A follow up to the post below

I had received a comment in the post below basically saying that I was bullshitting in that tale. Here is the comment:

Asdek

Leave it out, chum. If you couldn’t find any spanking material in London in 1979 at less than 6 or 7 quid a throw you must have been wearing blinkers and a sign saying “Rob Me”;-) Had you wandered into Janus’s shop off Brewer Street you would have found Janus retailing at £2, plus scores of other relevent mags. Second-hand back numbers were also easily obtainable. I know it’s fashionable to pretend we didn’t have this, that and the other way back in the Dark Ages, but there are limits.

Now the one thing the old puppy doesn’t do is lie so I have to address this. There is a good chance that I was wrong in my memory of how much the magazines cost back then, however, I didn’t discover the Janus store until about 1981 so I would buy magazines from your regular porn outlet. Now that said, I still don’t think I was that far off, especially being that we are talking nearly 30 years ago. Kane magazine in 1982 was being sold for 6 pounds, so it comes across as a little nitpicky. Like I said, I was buying a specialized genre in a non specialized genre store. Am I wrong in thinking that magazines cost 6 or 7 pounds back then? It is possible, sure, but it isn’t because I am looking to manipulate a story and I really don’t think I am far off the cost anyway. So I’m kinda curious Asdek, do you remember how much the Sun newspaper or a Mars bar cost in 1979? Even a 45rpm record? I have no doubt you would give it a pretty good guess. If you were to say that a record cost a quid but it was actually 50p in 1979, does that mean you are lying or you just simply didn’t remember the exact price?

Of course I should be happy that I got a comment of course, lol. Maybe it is because that story actually received a lot of comments and so a need to point out a discrepancy was made. Let me make it clear though, I do not lie about anything that has happened to me in my life. I may say something cost 6 quid 30 years ago when it was actually 4 quid, but that is simply because over a span of 3 decades I couldn’t remember the exact price of something. When I publish my biography in the future I guess I know one person who won’t be buying it 🙂 There are tales of vicious child abuse and even trips to prison in my background, how can I expect people to believe that when I couldn’t remember clearly how much a magazine cost in 1979!! 😉

Now on to some positive news though. Over on http://oldspankingpics.com later on today, I am going to post some real vintage gems, somewhat like the pic below. If you haven’t linked to that site yet I would appreciate it if you do, I simply have 1000’s of vintage spanking pics to share.

  1. You should title it “Richard Windsor Can Dream On.” 😛

Yeah I was totally gonna believe your story until he pointed out the price discrepancy, then I knew it was all crap *eyeroll*. I wouldn’t be that surpised to see a ridiculous price on things like that. I think the first magazine that was spanking related I found, was between 15 and 20 dollars in the early 90’s when I was visiting New Orleans (about 2 hours from home). Ridiculous price and I’m sure I could have found something cheaper if I knew where to go, but it was just a town I visited on occasion, so I didn’t know all the “right” place to go, just went into a store that had a mannequin in leather, lol. How the hell would you be expected to know at 16 exactly the right place to go to find your kink stuff at a decent price? Did you even know what Janus was, or to look for a Janus store at that age?

And as far as remembering a price on something…..hell you can’t even remember what room you are staying in at a hotel after having been there for 2 days already 😀

  2. Give it up, chum! It was 29 years ago, NOT 30! If you had re-read your last post, you would have seen that.

(Must be all the alcohol you’ve consumed over the years. Kills the brain cells.)

    😉
