Was it really 29 years ago?

Amazingly enough, it was!!

This brave lad who had just left school at 16 years old and went to work in a bakery, would hop on a National Express bus every other month or so and hit the seedy areas of Soho in London in search of spanking related material. Between 1979 and 1981 I did some of the most stupid things you could ever imagine. It was probably through sheer naivety and blind luck that I never ended up being kidnapped and working as a rent boy somewhere. The complete story about that journey during those years is the next piece in my spanking history that I will cover in an upcoming update.

Being a young man on these journey’s was not an easy task, I was dirt poor really, and while I would try my hardest to save 12 to 14 Quid  so that I could buy two spanking magazines, I didn’t really  have a whole lot extra.  Banana or crisp sandwiches would more than likely have accompanied me on my travels, along with a warm can of coke.  Here is the good part though, and I probably walked past the phone box a dozen times before going in to make a phantom phone call, it was these free Phone cards shown below that were placed in almost every phone box in Soho.

Now a lot of you are going to laugh at these, but try and remember something, at the time we had no Internet and with the exception of a possible spanking letter in Mayfair magazine, there was nowt in the way of spanking material ANYWHERE!! So these little cards that I would grab I would be able to take home and have fantasies about each one until my heart was content. Yes, compared to the Internet today, this looks like the lamest thing out there, but at the time, 1979, they were a little piece of FREE gold that could keep the mind of a horny 16 year old going for weeks on end 🙂 Click on each one for the full sized pic.

  1. I don’t think they’re lame, I think they’re neat. They might even be collector’s items now!

  2. I didn’t discover the internet until about age 20 or 21 I think. Finding those at 16 would have blown my mind! The best I had at that age was probably godawful Gor books I read the spanking scenes in over and over again. I think it’s awesome you still have all that stuff.

  3. Oops, let me point out what I never pointed out in the post. At one time or another I *would* have had these, but they are a distant memory now. These particular ones I actually found on the Internet.

  4. Richard, I remember these so well, they fed my fantasies as well, but never dared to ring them, I doubt if I could have afforded them.
    Paul.

  5. As will be revealed when I post the next chapter of my spanking life, Paul, I DID have the misfortune of calling one once. It was for a party and though I don’t recall the exact fee, I believe I had to pay 50 pounds and it was one of the worst experiences I ever had in my spanking life. The part that sucked the most was that I waited nearly a year until I had turned 18 before I went. Just think about it, an 18 year old boy at a party where lecherous old men in their 60’s were hanging out on the prowl {Shudders at the thought}

  6. Richard, did you ever call any of the numbers on the cards? I guess these were all pros? In my case, also pre-internet, there were the alternative newspapers in Philadelphia, where there would be ads from kinky people. You had to call a 900 number to listen to personal ads that people had recorded, and it was 99 cents or $1.99 a minute and added up fast. Anyone who sounded too sleazy or sexual I eliminated immediately, and I listened to tons of ads and finally met two very good disciplinarians, whom I played with privately for a while before I got into the public scene in NY. I also discovered a coworker who was dominate, and we played for a long time.

  7. Leave it out, chum. If you couldn’t find any spanking material in London in 1979 at less than 6 or 7 quid a throw you must have been wearing blinkers and a sign saying “Rob Me”;-) Had you wandered into Janus’s shop off Brewer Street you would have found Janus retailing at £2, plus scores of other relevent mags. Second-hand back numbers were also easily obtainable. I know it’s fashionable to pretend we didn’t have this, that and the other way back in the Dark Ages, but there are limits.
