In my last post I addressed year end award shows and their validity when affiliate promotion money is at stake, and of course the very next day one award ceremony result was manipulated because the winner and the second place person came from the same paid website, and it isn’t beneficial to spam the same site in the same award show. So the person who actually finished second was eliminated from the award despite having been voted second. Now, and I hope that she doesn’t mind me doing this, Erica Scott left the following message on that particular post:
“Awards are popularity contests, plain and simple. ‘Nuff said there. They make a few people feel great and the rest of us feel inadequate.”
I have to say that I don’t disagree with her at all, however, if an award show was done based on the preferences of the writer, then I wouldn’t have so much of a problem with it. In fact I had written down a whole bunch of awards based on my own personal choices, and these choices included awards such as ‘Best blog feature of the year’ and ‘Insult of the year’ 🙂 Now of course based on Erica’s comment I’m not even so sure it would be a good idea for me to do an independent award post. My original goal had been more in relation to blogs, however, if an award was from a paid site, I would add the link free of an affiliate program link, thereby eliminating any chance that my awards would be influenced by how much money I could make off the winners.
So I am asking you to step up to the plate and offer me “YOUR” honest opinions on Internet (specifically spanking) award shows. There are no right or wrong answers, just your opinions and how you feel towards it. Also, would you want to see my own awards given? Mine would be more of an Independent award show as opposed to the best new spanking model or the hardest M/F spanking seen on film, in fact one of my awards was “Best amateur spanking couple for 2009”. Let me know your thoughts.
My New Years Eve party post will be up tomorrow, and hopefully if their is feedback in relation to what I asked in this post, then may I can address that on Sunday.

Sometimes I think the spanking blog/webosphere takes itself far too seriously for it’s own good. What ever happened to the idea of having some “fun” with our favourite topic? Award shows are a cool way for individual bloggers to say “Hey, you know what, I love this place because of that and, oh boy, that blog is great because of this….” and so on.
Each of our blogs/websites are unique to us. Our own special little place where we can say and do shit that the majority of us can’t do in the real world. I was in a vanilla relationship for 22 years and the sense of liberation and excitement on discovering all you lot online was fantastic. It has opened up a whole new world for me. I do my blog because I enjoy being part of this community so I have no problems with rewarding people with a little recognition for their efforts.
Right, I’m off to the pub.
The only good thing about spanking awards is that there are usually a couple of good pics and maybe a clip of my favorite activity on the site conducting the contest. Anyone I watch regularly deserves a reward and I deserve the pictures. Or not!

My statement was probably a bit too simplistic. I think what seems unfair to me about the awards thing is that, generally, it tends to be the same people over and over who get the awards — hence the “popularity contest” comment. Granted, the popularity is earned and deserved. But I think it might tend to discourage others out there who are trying very hard to carve their own little niche in this scene of ours, and they fail to get their due recognition because someone more popular always supersedes them.
That being said, I would like very much to see your awards! I think yours will have fresh categories, fresh takes on what is worthy of a mention, cover a broader spectrum, and possibly give everyone some new blogs/sites/etc. for people to view. So go for it!
Well with one like you are talking about, where it is that individual’s personal likes/dislikes, with interesting categories like the “best insult” and things like that, it can be cute and fun. Beyond that I really don’t think I could care less, frankly. I only read the few blogs that happen to interest me, mostly of people that I know personally, so what blog wins an award for something really holds no interest for me. I probably wouldn’t know (or care lol) anything about the majority of blogs mentioned anyway.
I’m not really into the award shows – neither the online nor the televised vanilla versions. However, I would like to read your awards post simply because I think it would be entertaining. The categories you’ve come up with are different. I’m grinning thinking of all the fun ideas along the lines of best insult you might come up with.
