This is in my Ebay finds folder and has been sat there for more than a year, so it is high time that I start posting all of these old spanking pics. I’m afraid that I don’t have much history on this illustration. There is a number in the bottom left corner and it looks like a card of some type judging by the edges, so perhaps it is a part of a set of some kind.
I did do a generic Google of the spanking translation and it roughly says this… “Blows given in time, Awakens confidence, fear & love”. No telling whether it is the wife’s or daughter’s whose pantaloons/pettipants are on display.
My bet would be a wife. Even though these things may be meant as partly comical they do in fact harbour a deeper and profound truth. This truth is pretty much lost these days.
Oh totally, in fact I dare say that in some situations, as sad as it is, a spanking would have been a far better option than some of the beatings these women took in those days.
