There is a story attached to this German picture somewhere, but I will be fudged if I know what it is. My guess is that this couple were stage performers, probably in the very early 1900s, but that is purely a speculative guess.

Rich,
I would guess it’s a playbill for a production during the 20’s or 30’s. It’s wonderful. The faces on the two in th e pic are perfect! Great find! Another jewel! Thanks for sharing!

Jim,
In my prior exploits, I was an avid photo collector/trader, in fact, I still have thousands upon thousands of vintage photos. Based on the appearance of the image, my guess would be prior to 1920, perhaps around 1910 or so. I will now have to research it to see if I can find out the real date.

Rich,
Your effort to search out dates, places , and even circumstances amazes me. In my college days if I found a pic, I cared not from where, and did no research as to its origin, date, or even the principals involved. I saw the image and I was one happy camper. Now, in hindsight, I wish I had your patience and sleuthing skills! Thank goodness you weren’t so flippant as I! It is nice to see where the pic sits in history and the society of the time!

FatherJim,
It is probably a touch of OCD on my part, however, I always feel accomplished when I get to tell the whole story. It unfortunately caused problems with other blogs when I would call them out for their made-up bullshit stories regarding pics, lol. There was one in particular where a fanciful tale was spun, and they even got angry at me when I called them on it. After they did that, I took photos of the vintage magazine I had in my possession, and said this is where the image came from… FROM ME! 🙂 Not from some made-up regional newspaper.
