This wonderful picture was sent to me a while ago by a reader of this blog, unfortunately I can’t find the email so I can’t recall who sent it to me. When I find the name I will add it to this post. Anyway, the picture here was taken in 1954 and one can imagine this young lady was late for class this particular day and suffered immediate consequences for it.
I wonder if there were spankos in the 50?

Yes, Tim S., there were certainly spankos in the ’50’s, and long before that too – in fact, all the way to antiquity. We have magazines going back at least to 1930, and in the 50’s themselves, Irving Klaw’s spanking pictures (Bettie Page, et al.) and the occasional spanking mag.
Richard, you might want to double-check the year if you can. Those do appear to be Bobby Socks which are closely associated with 50’s, but I believe they originated in the 40’s, and I think the hairstyles and dresses could come from the earlier decade.
