If you are British you will appreciate the fact that this woman might very well be the original “Fag Ash Lil” 🙂 If you are not British, I believe the term was created as a character by the camp comedian, Larry Grayson. Basically it means a woman who forever has a cigarette (called a fag in the UK) drooping from her mouth.

This is clearly a cook and a housemaid doing some frolicking during a cigarette break, or, perhaps she is genuinely chastising the maid/servant for her poor performance in the estate. It definitely has a story that could be created from the image. A picture is worth a thousand words after all.
It kind of reminds me of Miss Martindale and her lifestyle. I wonder if that woman is still alive?

I’ll be honest, being a Brit I obviously heard the term many times growing up, but I also don’t know the true origin. It was the online community that stated that ‘Fag Ash Lil’ was one of Larry Grayson’s characters. Grayson was a television staple growing up, but I was only a teenager and younger when he was a regular on tv, so a lot of his innuendos passed me by back then, lol. I’ve watched a bit of him recently and he was a pretty funny guy, especially his facial mannerisms when interacting with the audience.
