First of all, we have a stunning 1950s spanking pic. It is being sold on Etsy for $25, so if you want it you can FIND IT RIGHT HERE. I would find it particularly satisfying if we could find the photograph a home.

Why have I titled the post as such, though, and not the usual Windsor Wednesday Classic (insert number here)?

I’ll tell you why, it is because the guy in the pic reminds me of one of my favorite 1950s artists, Billy Fury. More about him after you look at the photograph first.

The first album that Billy Fury ever released was called “The Sound of Fury.” He wrote all of the songs on the album as either himself, or his pseudonym, Wilber Wilberforce. Likely becoming the first British Rock & Roller to write his own songs. Strangely enough, though, aside from his very early releases, his stardom came singing the songs of other writers.

There is one Billy Fury album in my collection that is my prize possession. The album is called “The Sound of Fury Demos.” He made the album on a cassette recorder in his living room with just a guitar, and basically he was putting his work on a demo tape for the songs to be used by someone else. Marty Wilde being his main target to sing his songs.

He took his work to a local show where Marty Wilde was performing one night, and in what has since become music legend, Wilde’s manager instead put Billy Fury on stage himself that very night to sing his own songs. He literally became a star overnight.

The demo album was later released professionally as “The Sound of Fury.”

Here is Billy in 1959, and, just for all times sake, I’m going to listen to “The Sound of Fury Demos” as soon as I post this entry.
