It has now been 7 months since I started publishing eBooks, and in the last couple of weeks I got my first-ever 1-star rating. Two of them, in fact.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with getting low star ratings. Most of the ratings that my books receive are 4-star and 5-star ratings, with a smattering of 2-star ratings to keep me humble.

My best-selling book, THE SPANKING NEIGHBOR, received its very first 1-star rating this week. The book has 21 ratings in total and an average of 4.0 stars out of 5. Most spanking eBooks tend to average between 3.8 and 4.2 stars, and almost all of my eBooks fall between those figures as well.

Ironically, the book with the highest average rating on my bookshelf is a book that only sells a modest amount of copies. THE OTK SORORITY: A SPANKING GOOD SISTERHOOD has an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars from 8 ratings.

Quite honestly, I would rather receive honest feedback as opposed to people buttering me up. The only issue that I have is that I really wish the people who have left low ratings would also leave me a review as well. Tell me what you think I am doing wrong, even if it is a single line.

“Didn’t like the plot…” “Boring and repetitive…” “Didn’t read the book, but I dislike Richard Windsor: 1 star.”

It would be so much better to get actual feedback that one can take on board in order to improve.

Okay, it is only natural to get a bit uppity when you see a 1-star rating, with the defensive thought that goes through your mind… “I spent 26 man-hours writing this book; couldn’t you at least have given me two stars for the effort? 😉

No complaints, though. Some of the people who gave me 5 stars might not have even thought the eBook deserved 5 stars, but they left a 5-star rating to support me, so it all works out in the end.

Now then, spanking eBook time.

This weekend I am finally going to finish the third and final story for my next eBook. I’m about halfway through that final story at the moment, and the story concerns an aspiring actress who has to participate in a spanking scene in preparation for the role in an upcoming community theater play. She seeks out help from a semi-retired actress to serve as her mentor/trainer in order to prepare for the spanking scene. I won’t give away the entire plot, but the story is inspired by the 1950s plays that you often see on this blog that feature a spanking scene.

Which brings me to my next point:

My friends over on SPANK LIT STORIES also have a brand-spanking-new story, and guess what? Their latest story is the exact same type of story that I am currently in the middle of writing myself. I haven’t actually read their new story yet, so I don’t know the exact details of the plotline, but what a great coincidence, eh? Another story, completely free, that follows the theme of the olde stage-play spankings.
