Whether it is 1953 or 2015, this picture shows me something. No matter what the year, the girl being spanked always shows a steely resolve in her determination to show that the spanking doesn’t hurt. I dare say that in this 1953 pic the girl is very close to cracking.

I’ve probably written about it before, and I have no doubt that a long article will be written again this year. One of my personal issues (and let’s make this clear that it is not a knock against spanking producers, it is just a personal preference) with a lot of modern day spanking pics are to do with the “Butt cam” angle. You know the one, the angle where it isn’t about spanking. Whenever I see this angle it is a turn off to me in regards to spanking because what I feel I am seeing is a vagina pic that just happens to have some spanking in it. Now I am aware that I am very much in the minority I think, but my preference is based on what I grew up with and what I term “The innocence of spanking”. That will actually be the topic of my piece when I write it.
So for example, the following pic I think would be in the lower percentile of almost everyone’s view of what a good spanking pic is, yet ironically, this particular pic is one of my all time favorites. This is the face that I didn’t see as I spanked Pixie, I only got to see this after on video. There is that old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. Had I seen this pic in a mainstream publication in the 1970’s, I have a distinct feeling that it would still be in my wallet today. It is safe to say that in every photo set on the Internet, my favorite picture from that set was never seen by anyone other than the person discarding it on the cutting room floor.
What a lovely photo of the always delightful Pixie, my all-time favorite spanking model/actress. I was really disappointed when she ceased publication of her blog because of “personal reasons.” I know Ms. Wells has had health issues in the past and it is my sincere hope that she is well and prospering. If you can, please pass along my good wishes.
I would say there are at least some of us who agree with you about the “butt cam” angle in modern spanking videos, Richard. Dan Rivera has similarly criticized the overt sexuality in some videos over at my home venue, CSR, and I don’t post spanking pics in which overt sexual acts take place.
As to the “exposure” question, as I have tried to delicately put it, we had a whole topic on the CSR Forum where it was discussed. My own preference is for discreet camera angles, but I will post good photos/drawings with exposure if I feel the exposure is either necessary to the erotic functioning of the work or is incidental to it. Some of Paula Meadows’ great spanking art, for instance, features a spankee (sometimes modeled on Paula herself!) with legs apart, bending over for the cane, and this position is definitely an integral part of the drawing. Women are extremely self-conscious about being displayed in this way, and many dread knowing that her spanker can see “everything” while finding the idea thrilling as well.
And I think most women would agree with you also. They might draw some comfort from the fact that when the bending-over position(s) are to be used (for paddling or caning, typically), the spanker has to stand far enough to the side and forward that he can’t see anything anyway. And my attention is always focused on the fanny, because that’s the only way to maintain accuracy, especially with the cane which requires more effort to land the stroke where you want it.
